Have you noticed that while sitting in the bath or standing in the shower, all your wildest fantasies seem to be realisable? Is this because of the way you are soaping your underarm? Is it because you are free to fart without fear of detection? Or, is it because in the bathroom, your imagination has no challenger?
We need bathrooms. We need them for our daily hygiene but more important than that, we need them to give us permission to sing, fart and imagine what’s possible. Lets call that heaven. The unbridled use of imagination to come up with great ideas.
Then you towel off, put on your clean undies and (if you are so inclined) a bra and wrap yourself in your armour for the day. You can choose this armour based on what you want to project to the world. A suit, or shorts or a clown outfit. You are not your clothes and the projection might not match the images you had in the shower. You might be Jeckll and Hyde …. a wolf in sheep’s clothing. And out you go into the world, presenting yourself, conforming and yet, in some way, hoping that the imaginary movie you ran in the shower is more real than this one you are living.
There’s a tension isn’t there? A tension between what we want and what we’ve got. There are periods when they line up. Some of those periods last longer than others, particularly in relationships. Like the last relationship you had. It started like a perfect download of the shower movie you had in your mind and ended up hurting. You had a dream and it ended a little different than you imagined. And now, it’s time for a second go, or third, or fourth and you probably don’t want to get your heart broken again.
So, I wrote this book for you.
